5 day magic experiment / day 2. decoding your dreams
Hi love!
Did you catch lesson 1? It was day 1 of 5 days of our experiment in magic and manifesting with your soul. Today we are diving into dreams, but if you didn't catch the first lesson, go read it now, you're welcome.
Now for day 2 of this experiment in magic!
As our consciousness expands, we open ourselves to using many tools and methods to heighten our awareness and bring about better understanding to our soul and lives.
One of the tools or methods is our nightly dreams….
Our nightly dreams become more significant on our path because our soul begins to use dreams as a means of communicating our progress to us directly.
Have you ever had an especially meaningful dream? Maybe you dreamed you talked with a passed on loved one, or you received some insight or premonition while you slept.
Have you ever awoke at night from a dream, and were just then unable to quite remember where you were and what you were just doing? And suddenly an image or scene gently floats or pops in or something sparks your memory? Then suddenly, you begin to recall your dream as a scene, as real as the world right in front of you.
Maybe you feel as though you were just there and never left.
Dreams are our access to the hidden gateway into worlds and dimensions beyond our seeming ordinary reality.
Dreams have special significance in many psych theories — they’re called the “royal road to the unconscious” by Freud, and Jung saw in dreams “the expression of mythic archetypes”.
In my experience both are vastly true to me. Dreams really do tell you all.
Tapping into the collective mind through dreams is a rich source of information, guidance and spiritual directives from higher guides and realms.
Out of all your dreams, the ones that emanate from the spiritual realms always have the most transformative effect. These dreams are so compelling, so vivid that you cannot dismiss them and the details of such dreams remain with you for years. These dreams are powerful in their intent to transform you, to reveal amazing and profound things about yourself and the world. I've had many of them over the years, which have left me with feelings of surprise, awe and wonder.
On occasion, a high being may appear in your dreams to advise, console and empower you. Always leaving with some type of message.
Easy to understand and remember, yet cuts through to the depth of who you are meant to be and are.
You might hear the name of your angel, or meet one, or have a premonition or see your spirit guides and experience their presence.
Or see loved ones who have long since passed on. For example, these days it is common for me to say, “My mom may have passed away 3 years ago, but I just saw her last week / last night / last month.”
I have found that our dreams either reveal our current subconscious state, potential or they predict what is yet to come. How these 3 possibilities manifest in dream-time is different for everyone.
Dreams are rather magical to me because they link me to another world, another dimension full of wisdom, truth, and symbolism. Where I never know what I am going to experience next, what it’ll tell or show me, and who I am to be afterward.
Our dreams reconnect us to our truer and wilder self, where they reveal to us the kind of timeless soulful wisdom, that is not easily obvious or accessible, by our conscious mind.
Dreams play with fears, they test our limits and they even link us back to our ancestors or past lives… Yet still, most of us go to bed and then do not even remember our dreams when we wake up.
Through the years, I have come to discover many different types of dreams. This is due to me being able to remember my dreams, all my life. It is rare for me to experience a night with no memory of a dream. It is rather NORMAL for me to have and remember 1-3 detailed dreams by the morning. *shrug*
To sum it up, what I've come to know is this...
There are dreams that help me sort through emotions and thoughts in my life, or feelings and emotions get expressed which I happen to hold deep down that I am not consciously aware of until I further contemplate the symbolism.
Dreams that are replays of experiences, such as a continuous scene, movie or a conversation that shows me a repeating pattern that needs to be let go of or made aware of, that I am holding on to for some reason.
Dreams give a clue through a symbol that stands out and has meaning so that it can be used to predict the future. For example, dreaming of a specific book or taking a specific class.
Then, there are the deep dreams that are a bit more nonsense and more based on their deeper symbolic, archetypal energies and meanings. These ones generally show what energies are around me, what energies are required to embody for some reason, or energies to be aware of and keep an eye on.
Deep dreams (lucid dreaming or OBE) usually are more vivid and easier to remember, even after a long period of time and feel every bit as real, as waking life and reality. Where grassy hills are emerald green and dew drops look like fractal diamonds that shine white. Where being there, and seeing it is different than ever explaining it. The experience stands for itself, as opening you up to new perceptions of the world.
Occasionally, we have a dream that is really a nightmare where we wake up fearful and afraid. As such, nightmare’s are often an unfinished dream or one that needs to be transmuted through with our subconscious strength.
Most often, there are periods of no dreams at all. This happening brings to our attention that we are experiencing obstacles.
All such dreams cannot be controlled or forced to come through; it is a purely spontaneous occurrence. Our consciousness provides clues to future events but how all this comes through in waking life is a mystery.
There's no methodology that I know of to induce such a state (of prophetic dreams) because it can't be duplicated. And I wouldn’t want to either. I let my dreams come to me. Premonitions or visitations are always unique and come at perfect times. It is unique to each person how consciousness reveals the how, the when, the what, etc.
It is also important to distinguish these types of prophetic dreams from the typical ones. Usually prophetic dreams or visitations are always recalled upon waking because the dream imprints itself in such a way that it becomes impossible to forget.
The detail and clarity can be deeply felt and recalled.
Our higher selves always know exactly what information we can be given and when to achieve the best results through our understanding of the message given. So it’s best to ask for what you need, but listen to the messages that you get.
If we learn to pay attention to the messages we receive through our nightly dreams, and not dismiss them, but instead see it as an opportunity to become familiar with the secrets they keep and the language they speak…
It will actually help you navigate through life more effectively. ;)
Homework Assignment:
1. Start to record and analyze your dreams.
One of the biggest myths about dream analysis is that there’s a set of stringent rules people need to follow. But every person is unique, so there are no formulas or prescriptions. Dreams “can only be understood in the larger context of the our life’s / soul’s unfolding and self-discovery. However, there are several guidelines that can help you see your dreams more thoughtfully and dig deeper into their meaning.
This is the first and most important step in analyzing your dreams. Taking notes, even a few sentences that encapsulate the dream, literally draws the content of the unconscious out into the realm of the concrete.
Think you don’t dream or can’t remember your dreams? Keep a journal by your bed, and write “No dream to record” every morning.
Within two weeks of this process, you will begin to remember your dreams. In fact, you might open the floodgates!
2. Identify how you were feeling in the dream.
Ask yourself:
“Was I scared, angry, remorseful, etc.?”
“Do I still feel those feelings the morning after?”
“How comfortable am I feeling these feelings?”
Jung referred to dreams as “feeling-toned complex of ideas.” In other words, we are always being called by our unconscious self to feel into our ideas, thoughts and actions so as to gain a deeper sense of who we are and where we are going in our lives.
We are being asked to step into feeling something different so that we can see where we are coming from, where we could be coming from, where others are coming from, what we’ve been making ourselves available for, and considering how long this has been happening.
3. Identify any recurring sayings, thoughts in your dreams and daily life.
Here are some examples of recurring thoughts:
“I can’t afford it.”
“I don’t understand.”
“This never works.”
Next, ask yourself if you’ve had these thoughts throughout the day in your daily life. If so, in what situations have you had these thoughts? How can you be more aware of this and what can you put in it’s place?
4. Consider all the elements of a dream.
You can show up in your dreams in various ways. Many times, we can find ourselves, our personalities, in many elements of a dream, even if there is a clear distinction between us and another character in the dream.
You can ask yourselves these questions:
“What is it like to be the villain in the dream?”
“What is it like to be the aggressor, or be passive?”
“What is it like to be the receiver of this behavior?”
5. Put down the dream dictionaries.
You’ve probably come across dream dictionaries that feature specific meanings for objects. While there may be some universal meaning for these symbols, the key is to figure out what the dream means to you.
I am far more interested in where you as the dreamer goes with the symbol and what you connects it to as a result of the dream.
So, even though there may be some universal elements, symbols have different meanings for different people. I believe we are all unique and carry very personal histories that impact the symbols, objects, tastes and smells that we associate with a particular dream story or event. Most often you can decode your dream by just asking yourself the right questions.
Or if and when you do look up a meaning just take what resonates.
Because you will look up dream meanings at some point. I dreamt of large fruit a couple weeks ago. The strawberry was as big as a watermelon, and apples that were as big as 2 watermelons. I looked it up but there was only one website with a theory on large fruit. So whatever that was to me at the time, I took what resonated and I fused that with my own interpretation and everything has since felt aligned and I don't feel as though I missed any messages hidden therein.
PS. Remember you’re the expert. There are no experts other than yourself when it comes to your own psyche so don’t stop trusting your own inner guide to your unconscious.
